Art isn't paint, it's LOVE....

Art isn't paint... It's love!

And I love nothing more than getting my fingers super painty and messy. Its a sign that the creative juices are flowing and the soul is being soothed.

This month I've got a super colourful mixed media layout that just screams ME... messy, textural and a little bit grungy.

Here I've used bits from the 'Creative Chaos' Everyday Etc Cards and the 'Creative Chaos' Filler photo cards to create my layers, and used  'Paint Splats' sticky quotes and Flair Button 414 and Flair Button No 233 as my embellishments.

I've created a step by step tutorial on how I created this background on my blog, and you can look at it HERE

Dont forget that the new release Fur-Ever Friends goes live at 8pm on Sunday 5th February... stay tuned for sneek peeks from the design team and myself in the coming days...

You're my person, with Ros

Hi there, Ros here today to share a layout that I have created using the Mad About You collection.

After slapping down a few colours of paint I have used the Hugs and Kisses stencil with some moulding paste.  You can see that I have done this under where my photo cluster is sitting and also on the opposite side of the page.  This give my layout some balance.
I also added a few splashes of black Flutter Colour to the background.

I was a little stuck at first with this collection cause I don't have a person.  It didn't take long to realise that it really doesn't matter.  This collection is perfect for any of my loves.

For my cluster I have cut some of the filler cards into different sizes and layered them together.  Along the edge of this is some of the gorgeous little Page Tabs.  My photo is sitting inside the gorgeous Mad About You frame.

I have also cut some of the filler cards into some little banners to poke into the photo stack.  This has then been finished off this a super cute flair button.

Right at the bottom of the layout I have matted the words cut from one of the filler cards onto some more little banners.

Hope you've been inspired ♥

Throw Kindness Like Confetti by Lauren Hender

Hi Everyone!!

By now you have all most likely had a peek of the new release range and products coming soon to the Flutterby store. I have been super lucky to get my hands on some goodies early and now have a project to share with you.

This time round Flutterby Designs is expanding its already awesome collection of paints to include these great colours.

These paints are amazing! They dry quickly, blend well and once dry provide a surface that you can easily journal on or layer with other mediums.

I used some of these new paints to splatter a background in this journal project. I didn't hold back or wait until any layer dried and this fabulous effect was created.
Look at these paints! They look like lollies, and what scrapping girl doesn't like a lollie?! lol

The other Flutterby products I have use in this project is from the Mad About You collection.
SHOP IT HERE

These paints will be available to purchase from 5/2/2017 at 8pm. So SAVE THE DATE.

My Crazy Tribe by Belinda Spencer

Hello Flutterby peeps!!

Belinda here today to share two layouts featuring some fabulous Flutterby Designs product.

Let's get started with a layout I created using the latest 'Mad About You' collection.

'Crazy Together' Layout

For this layout, I was totally inspired by one of Anita's filler cards which is the one directly under my photo. It is a book paper one with lovely big circles of bright pink, blue and green. This was my inspiration for my background.

I started by spritzing my background with water before spraying on Kaisermists in Pink, Lime Green and Aqua. I added more water to make lovely pools of colour on my layout. After drying with a heat gun, I then used Golden Light Molding Paste with the I {heart} you mini stencil to add another layer of interest to my background.

I love this photo of my hubby and kids being their crazy selves for the photo. I printed it off in black and white so that it wouldn't compete with my technicolour layout and so that it would stand out from it.

I have layered several filler cards from the Mad About You range underneath and added some crazy embroidery thread in matching colours too.  We are huge The Big Bang Theory fans so of course I had to use that fabulous flair button!

Here's what I used:

MAD ABOUT YOU:

Next up is a layout I created using the gorgeous 'Wild Bohemian' range.

'My Tribe' Layout

I have created another watercolour effect background using mists and water inspired by the colours in Anita's filler cards. This time I used the 'On The Plus Side' Stencil to add some yellow paint plus signs to my background.

Here's what I used:

WILD BOHEMIAN:

Thankyou so much for stopping by the blog and checking out my creations today. I do hope you feel inspired to grab your Flutterby stash and have a play too.

Cheers
Belinda

Love | Krisy Podolak

Hi Again Flutterby Lovelies,  It's Krisy back today and I am sharing a layout I put together using the NEW "Mad About You" collection and I have been inspired by this months challenge over at White with 1 - Princess Pink. I forgot just one thing...THE WHITE.  Oh well!

This is a photo and me and my daughter Autumn when she was about 10 days old.  I used the Everyday Etc cards and cut them into srtips and then embellished with the Stickers, Page tab, Die Cut and  a flair button.  You can find the store here to stock up on your very own Flutterby Designs goodies.

For my background, I have used gesso and a bit of Colour Blast Shimmer dust in Lollipop to create a pink paint that I then dabbed through the Flutterby Designs Pieces stencil using a make up sponge, over the top of some randomly applied colour.  It adds some nice detail that is not in your face.

Here are a few close ups:

Thanks for looking - it's time to do some shopping....Here's the link

Oh and there is a process video too - you can check it out here.

You Stole My Heart | Sue Plumb

Hiii Flutterby peeps!
Its Sue back with you again today to share another layout using the awesome Mad About You collection. And, in stark contrast to my other pages created with this collection so far, this one is a nice, soppy, romantic one...

The photo I used was one that was taken on a trip to Rainbow Beach on the Fraser Coast in Queensland a few years ago. It was my partner's birthday (which also happens to be our anniversary) and I was 23 weeks pregnant with our boys at the time. He found this heart shaped rock for me on our walk up to the sandblow, and that was what he was holding in front of my belly in the photo. (And yes, I still have the rock!)

I knew exactly which of the Mad About You Everyday Etc photo cards I was going to use as my title card for this layout, so I wanted to create a mixed media background to match. I started with my teal Flutter Colour paint, which I watered down to make a beautiful watercolour paint. Then using a wide brush, I simply brushed it across my cardstock. Next, I added some stamped bubbles and texture using stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps. I then used one of my Flutterby mini stencils and white Flutter Colour paint to apply some random small circles over the top, which I did by stippling the paint on with a stiff brush through the stencil. I also mixed a little of my white paint with water and splattered it around the page, along with some blue mist.

Once the background was dry, I chose some of the Mad About You Everyday Etc filler cards to use as a layered mat for my photo. I used a wood veneer geotag to draw attention to my photo, which I altered simply with some watercolour paint. I also added the XOXO page tab and used the small frame from the Mad About You Sticky Quotes sticker sheet (I cut it in half and layered the pieces back on top of each other). On top of the frames I popped a couple of white tiny sticky quotes.

I used several wood veneer circles and the smaller confetti circles around my page, which I also coloured simply using a watercolour paint. You can see where I roughly wrapped some cotton thread around the circle used to highlight the quotes next to my photo.

For my embellishment cluster on the corner of my photo, I layered the & sticker from the sticky quick quotes sheet with a Charms Creations heart, some more cotton thread, and the gorgeous I love you to infinity & beyond flair button (from set #422).

Along the bottom edge of my page I added the die cut script i love you quote from the Mad About You Die Cut Bibs & Bobs pack. I popped an extra tiny sticky quote below it and a die cut heart (painted with watercolour to match my geotag veneer) next to it.

After all that was done, I added a few more die cut hearts, some sequins and a few stamped phrases and my page was complete. I was really happy with how it all came together...despite the lack of any of my favourite "sentence enhancers" on this one.

I will be back in a couple of weeks with another project to share. Until then, happy scrapping! X

Be Awesome Today!

Helloooo Arty peeps!!!

Skai here with my first ever blog post as a Flutterby Designs girl.... Ekkkk, you have no idea how long I've been counting this day down.

I've got for you today a layout I made the day the awesome Boss Lady Anita announced the 2017 design team. So for me to keep a layout on the down low for a whole month nearly killed me...lol... I'm a maker and same day sharer.

This pretty much encapsulates my 'thing' that makes my style mine. Lots of layers, messy splatters, dark overtones and machine stitching! I use my trusty Janome on everything.

I'm a self confessed over sharer, and document all the good, bad and ugly parts of my life. I'm looking forward to sharing my art with you and would love your feedback, good and bad (I promise I can take it) and for you to join us in using these amazing products Anita has designed for us all.

My layout began on a base of Marshmallow heavy weight card stock. I started off using the Random Blatherings stencil and using a sponge inked it using some Distress inks.
Next I've watered down some of the Flutterby Colour Paintin the blues and using a pipette have just dumped a whole heap onto the page and using s straw have blown it out in different directions. This is one of my fave techniques at the moment to get that real messy, splattered effect.

Next I've use the paint straight out of the bottle and added a layer of thick splatters. Give this all some drying time and get working on your layers.

Ive used a bunch of random papers from the Wild Bohemian Everyday Etc Cards and Wild Bohemian - Filler cards and inked around the edges with black Stazon. To add more texture Ive also machine stitched up and down the page and around the 'Be Awesome Today' today circle.

To finish it off I've added some Blackboard Sticky Quotes and inked the edges with more black Stazon to give it a real dark, grungy feel.

I hope you like my first share with you all... I promise ive got some awesome, messy, textural and REAL life layouts coming to inspire you in the coming weeks.

Cheers - Skai

happy, bright & merry, with Ros Madley

Hi everyone!!
If I said I was excited to be here, it would be a huge understatement. I'm so excited to be part of this team that I ended up creating 6 projects to share.  I got a little carried away, but once I started I couldn't stop.

For my first share I decided to show you a couple of Christmas pages I created using the Dec Documented 2016 range.

My page began with one of my fave techniques.  I laid down some moulding paste with the Stargazed stencil.  After this I sprinkled embossing powder over top and heat dried.  This gives the moulding paste a puffy enamel look. It's also an awesome way of getting colour on your background without any water.

For my photo stack I have taken various elements from the Everday Etc Cards and layered them.  I used one of my favourite punches to add  a different visual to one of the cards, and popped a Page Tab in amongst the layers.

The little santa hat is from the Sticky Quotes, and by adding a little snip with my scissors I have been able to have the hat sitting behind my photo with the pom pom hanging over the front.

Some words from the Sticky Quotes have been used here.  They've been cut into separate words and outlined with white gel pen.  The little heart has been taken from one of the Everyday Etc cards.  My layout has been finished off with a Christmas Tree wood veneer, painted to match the cards and a Flair Button.

I started my second page with the same background technique.  This time I used the I {heart} You stencil with embossing powder.

I always make my little photo stacks as a separate embellishment to my page.  This way I can change them around, add more to the background or change whereabouts on my page I want it to sit.

Once I had all my layers cut out and stacked up here, I felt that the photo was disappearing a little on the page.  To solve this I've taken some Black Mayhem Flutter Colour Paint and swiped it across the background with an old rewards card.

It definitely did the trick and the photo cluster is now popping off the page.

My page has been finished off with a few Enamel Dots and a Flair Button.

Thanks heaps for visiting my first share.  Hope you've been inspired ♥

Mad About Flutterby by Belinda Spencer

Hello!!

Belinda here today and I am absolutely thrilled to be sharing my very first post as a brand new Flutterby Designs Design Team member.

First up I want to say a massive thank you to the uber talented Anita Rodway for having me on her awesome team. I just love your clever, arty designs so I am stoked to be able to create with them.

For my first project I have a layout to share featuring the Mad About You collection.

'P.S. I Love You' Layout

I love this photo of my hubby looking rather dashing, sporting some quirky Christmas photo booth props, that I took on Christmas Day 2015. Believe it or not, that is NOT his real moustache. LOL

I started with a heavy white cardstock base and added a Pink Kaisermist and water wash over it. Once dry I added some stencilling using the Hugs and Kisses Stencil and a custom made mix of Golden Light Molding Paste and Prima Charcoal Chalkboard paint. I used a palette knife to smudge some areas of the stencilling. This is a great way to hide any imperfections in your stencilling!!

The stencilling turned out a little darker than I had hoped so I spritzed over the top of everything with White Kaisermist to soften the colours.

I love to create lots of layers under my photo and the Everyday Etc Filler Cards are absolutely perfect for this technique. I chose a few different coordinating cards, chopped them to size and then shuffled them around under my photo until I was happy with the arrangement. I knew (from experience!) that if I pulled my layers apart to add tape to the back, that I would never EVER get them back in the same order. My solution is to have my handy Tiny Attacher nearby to quickly whack a couple of staples in to hold everything in place.

Once the layers were in place I literally threw some pink embroidery thread over the top and then secured in place with my photo as well as some strategically positioned embellishments and a few sneaky dots of Glossy Accents. I added a bit of stamping to my background at this point too using a cheeky stamp from Typo.

I layered some Page Tabs above my photo too. I HAD to use the 'Sheldon' one as we are huge fans of The Big Bang Theory and Sheldon is most definitely our favourite character. And as I just LOVE wood veneer, I have added some Die Cut Bits and Bobs too.

Well I hope you are feeling inspired after my very first share to get in your scrap room and have a play with your own Flutterby Designs stash. I will have lots more to share with you in a couple of weeks.

Don't forget there is only one more sleep until the Flutterby Designs shop is open again on Wednesday 11th January.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today!

Cheers
Belinda
